These terms are an agreement between you and [Legal entity name], organized in [State of formation] (“we”, “us”), which runs Seventh Jobs. By using the site, you agree to them. If you use it for an organization, you agree for that organization and confirm you're allowed to. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. You must be at least 16 to use the site.
What Seventh Jobs is
Seventh Jobs lists jobs at Seventh-day Adventist schools, hospitals, conferences and ministries. Searching, reading listings and job alerts are free: we charge job seekers nothing. We're not an employer, recruiter or employment agency, and we take no part in hiring: we don't refer, screen or forward candidates, and applications go straight to the employer's own website or email.
Employer accounts
- You sign in with a one-time code or link sent to your email. Keep access to that inbox secure; you're responsible for activity under your account.
- You may only create, claim or join an organization you actually represent. We verify new organizations before their listings go public, and we may ask for information to do so. What that check does and doesn't cover is explained in What does “Verified employer” mean?
- When you pay on Stripe's checkout page, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy by ticking the box there.
What you may post
Listings must be for real, currently open positions at the organization you represent. You must not post anything that:
- is false or misleading, or is for a job that doesn't exist or has been filled;
- asks applicants to pay a fee, buy anything, or hand over financial information to apply;
- is spam, a scam, or links to harmful or unrelated sites;
- breaks the law, including the employment laws that apply to your organization, or infringes someone else's rights;
- states a preference or limit based on a protected characteristic (such as race, color, national origin, age, sex or disability), unless the law allows it for that job, or a citizenship or immigration-status requirement the law doesn't allow;
- contains a blanket exclusion that employment laws in many states restrict, such as “no applicants with a criminal record”, “the unemployed need not apply”, or a demand for salary history.
You're responsible for your listings and for your hiring. That includes equal-opportunity and anti-discrimination laws, and the pay-transparency laws of the states where the job can be filled: where a law requires a listing to state pay, you must include accurate pay in good faith. We don't review every listing for legal compliance, and a listing being on the site doesn't mean we have checked it.
Religious preference. Many employers on the site are religious organizations. A listing may say that church membership is required or preferred for a position only if your organization is legally entitled to make that choice for that position. By choosing that option, you confirm that it is, and you're responsible for the statement. We may ask you to explain it, and we may change or remove a listing that doesn't appear to qualify.
You let us display, format and share your listings and your organization's name and details on Seventh Jobs, in email alerts, and with search engines, for as long as the listing is on the site. We may remove formatting or content that our editor doesn't support. You confirm you have the right to give us that permission. To the extent the law allows, you'll cover our reasonable costs of a third party's claim that arises from your listing or from your breach of these terms.
We don't guarantee that a listing will be seen, or lead to any applicant, interview or hire.
Moderation
Anyone can report a listing. A listing reported by several different people may be hidden automatically until we review it. We may edit, hide or remove any listing, and reject or suspend any organization, when we believe it breaks these terms, breaks the law, or harms job seekers or the site. We aren't obliged to publish or keep any listing. A rejected or suspended organization can still see its dashboard but can't make changes.
Pricing
Current prices, in US dollars:
- Single listing: $99 one-time
- Institution — monthly: $249 per month
- Institution — annual: $2,490 per year
A single listing pays for one listing period (see below). A plan pays for unlimited listings and renewals while it's active; plans are available once your organization is verified. Payments are processed by Stripe; a single listing is paid for when you submit it, even before your organization is verified. Bank payments can take a few business days to clear, and the listing goes live once they do. If a plan payment fails, listings that are already live stay up, but you'll need to fix the payment before posting or renewing under the plan. We may change prices; a change never affects a payment you have already made.
Plans and promotions are for an organization's business use, not personal or household use. Prices are the amounts shown on the Billing page and on Stripe's checkout page before you pay; we add no other fees.
Plans renew automatically
- A plan is a subscription. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period (every month for the monthly plan, every year for the annual plan) at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. Before you subscribe, the Billing page and Stripe's checkout page state the price, how often it renews and how to cancel, and ask you to confirm that you understand it renews automatically. We don't offer free trials, and one-time payments (a single listing, a promotion) never renew.
- Your confirmation. When your plan starts, we email the organization's owners the plan, its price, how often it renews, the next renewal date, and how to cancel, to keep for your records.
- Reminders. About 35 days before each annual renewal, we email the owners the date and price, with a link to cancel. A monthly plan gets that reminder once a year, before the renewal that takes it past 12 months.
- Cancelling. The owner can cancel at any time with the Cancel plan button in Billing, or the link in our plan emails: one step to Stripe's cancellation screen, with no call, reason or other hurdle. The plan then stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and doesn't renew. There is no minimum term or cancellation fee, and the unused part of a period isn't refunded (see Refunds and cancellations below).
- Price and plan changes. If we raise a plan's price or change it in a way that matters to you, we email the owners at least 30 days before it takes effect. It applies from the first renewal on or after that date, and you can cancel before then.
Promoted listings
You can pay to promote a live listing for a set time. Each option is a one-time payment, in US dollars:
- Promote for 7 days: $29
- Promote for 14 days: $49
- Promote for 30 days: $89
- A promotion is a paid placement, and we label it that way. A promoted listing carries a “Promoted” label for job seekers, appears in the Promoted jobs section on our home page, and is listed first (up to three at a time, shared among promoted listings and rotating hourly) in job searches it matches. Other listings follow in the normal order.
- Promotion is placement only. It doesn't guarantee views, applicants or hires, and it doesn't change how long the listing runs.
- A promotion starts when your payment clears. Buying again while a listing is promoted adds the new days to the end of the current promotion. It only applies while the listing is live: it stops showing when the listing closes, is marked filled, expires or is taken down, and the unused days aren't refunded or carried to another listing.
- A promotion is available for live listings, whether or not your organization has a plan; a plan doesn't include it.
How long listings run
- A listing runs for 60 days after it goes live, or until its application deadline if that comes first.
- You can renew a listing from 7 days before it ends until 30 days after. A renewal extends it by 60 days from its current end date (or from the day you renew, if it has already ended), again capped at the application deadline. A renewal that would add no time (because the deadline already ends the listing) isn't offered; move the deadline later first. Moving a live listing's deadline later extends it up to the end of the period it was published or last renewed for, never beyond. Without a plan, each renewal costs the single-listing price ($99); with an active plan, renewals are included.
- You can mark a live listing as filled, or close it without saying it was filled, at any time.
- Changing where a live listing sends applicants (its application link or email, or links and email addresses in its description) to an address we can't match to your organization takes it off the site until we review the change.
- After a listing ends, its page stays up for 30 days marked as closed, then leaves the public site. It stays in your dashboard.
- If your plan ends, listings that are already live stay up until they end.
Refunds and cancellations
We refund payments automatically in these cases:
- Your organization isn't approved. If we reject your organization, or reverse a claim of an organization, we refund every listing payment it has made, cancel its plan immediately, and refund the plan's most recent invoice.
- The payment can't be used. If a listing can't go live or be renewed with your payment (for example, the listing was no longer waiting for payment, your organization was suspended or rejected, or the application deadline passed first), we refund that payment.
- The deadline passes during verification. If a paid listing is waiting for your organization to be verified and its application deadline passes before we verify you, we refund it and return the listing to your drafts.
- You withdraw a listing before it goes live. A listing waiting for payment or for verification can be withdrawn back to your drafts; any payment for it is refunded.
- Your plan already covers it. If you pay for a listing or renewal while your organization has an active plan (for example, you subscribed while checkout was open), the plan covers it and we refund the payment.
- A promotion can't be applied. If the listing wasn't live when your promotion payment arrived (for example, it closed, expired or was taken down while you were paying), we refund the payment in full. If we refund a promotion for any reason, it ends.
- A duplicate plan. If your organization ends up with two active plans, we cancel the newer one straight away and refund its payment.
We email the organization whenever we refund a payment automatically.
You can cancel a plan at any time with the Cancel plan button in Billing in your dashboard (it opens Stripe's cancellation screen). The plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for and isn't refunded for the rest of that period. Switching between monthly and annual is prorated by Stripe. If we remove a listing for breaking these terms, that doesn't trigger a refund. If a payment is disputed with your bank, we take the listing it paid for off the site and pause new payments for your organization until the dispute is resolved.
Any other refund is at our discretion. If you think you should get one, email hello@seventhjobs.com. Refunds go back to the original payment method; how long they take to appear depends on your bank.
Listings we collect from careers pages
To help job seekers find openings in one place, we collect job postings from the public careers pages of Adventist employers (how our crawler works). These listings are free for the employer, link back to the employer's own page, and send applications to the employer. They're updated as the careers page changes and taken down after a job has been missing from the page for a couple of our crawls.
- To manage them yourself, claim your organization from its page in our employer directory by signing in with an email address at your organization's own domain. Once you edit or renew a collected listing, it's yours to manage like any other.
- To have them removed, email hello@seventhjobs.com; we aim to remove a listing within two business days of a request from the employer it is about. To stop our crawler from collecting your listings in future, block SeventhJobsBot in your site's robots.txt.
Copyright complaints
If you believe a listing on Seventh Jobs copies your work without permission, follow the steps on our copyright complaints page, which says where to send a notice. We respond to valid notices by removing the material, and we may suspend or close the accounts of employers who repeatedly infringe.
Using the site fairly
Don't misuse the site: no attempts to break or overload it, get around its security checks or limits, access other people's accounts, or send false reports.
Not affiliated
Seventh Jobs is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
Disclaimers
Listings come from employers and from public careers pages. We don't check every detail and can't promise that a listing is accurate, current or still open, or that any application leads to a job. The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We may change, pause or stop any part of it.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for the conduct of employers or applicants, and our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and $100. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit, and some places don't allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Ending your use
You can stop using the site at any time; to close an employer account, email hello@seventhjobs.com. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Governing-law state], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you use the site for an organization, legal proceedings about these terms or the site go to the state or federal courts located in [Governing-law state].
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. For organizations with an active plan, we email the owners at least 30 days before a change that matters to them takes effect. Otherwise, a change applies once it is posted, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept it.
