Position Summary: This position is a ministry and its sole purpose is to advance the mission of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists. In addition, this ministry and position require the ability to serve as an associate leader within the Children's Ministries Department, partnering with the Director in the planning, implementation, coordination, and management of the department's mission and objectives within the North American Division. Responsibilities include providing leadership in administering departmental programs and operations, in alignment with the mission and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, providing guidance and support to staff as delegated, and working collaboratively with Division leadership to support the goals of the Church across the North American Division territory.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides leadership for the development of the Children's Ministries Team, including Sabbath School and Certification Training.
- Oversees the development of curriculum, educational resources, and training initiatives in collaboration with the Department Director.
- Acts as consultant to the unions and conferences in any aspect of Sabbath School and Certification Training.
- Determines the scope of content, activities, and delivery timeframes for Children's Ministries resources in collaboration with the Director.
- Establishes processes to obtain, review, and incorporate feedback from Children's Ministries Union and Conference Directors.
- Serves as the Children's Ministries liaison to Pacific Press, AdventSource, and other ministry partners in collaboration with the Director.
- Makes recommended edits to content in collaboration with the Children's Ministries Director.
- Provides day-to-day supervision and work direction for assigned Floaters, including work assignments, scheduling, training, coaching, and ensuring effective support of departmental operations.
- Serves as Secretary of the Children's Ministries Training Committee and supports the development of train-the-trainer materials.
- Serves on various boards and committees as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education/Experience/Credentials: A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in curriculum and instruction, elementary education, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is strongly preferred. Appropriate successful work experience may be acceptable in lieu of scholastic requirements. Professional experience should include a minimum of eight years in a related field, with denominational experience at higher levels of church organization, including conferences, unions, divisions, and/or other denominational institutions. Experience should reflect increasing responsibility and demonstrated effectiveness in overseeing department-level functions, managing programs, supervising staff, and supporting strategic initiatives.
Knowledge and Skill: Knowledge of principles, policies, and beliefs of the North American Division and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Knowledge of church structure and organization, including committee procedures, etc. Knowledge and skill in appropriate methods of dealing with human behavior in various circumstances. Advanced command of language skills, including proficiency in verbal and written form. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred. Specialization in Children's Ministries is required. Ability to perform administrative functions; develop long- and short-term plans and programs to effectively evaluate work accomplishments; establish and maintain effective relationships with internal/external personnel.
